Detailed Fatigue Evaluation

Starting CAEPIPE Version 13.00, a new feature is added to perform Detailed Fatigue Evaluation only for Expansion load cases (same as ‘displacement stress ranges’). This evaluation can be turned ON or OFF through Loads > Detailed Fatigue.
Steps to perform Detailed Fatigue evaluations are given below. Refer to the Sections titled “Fatigue Curves” and “Fatigue Cycles” in this manual for further details.
Detailed Fatigue Evaluation (only for Expansion load cases)
1.      Turn ON the required Expansion load cases for Detailed Fatigue Evaluation through Loads > Load Cases.
2.      Input the Fatigue Curve (S-N Curve) data or Read the S-N Curve data into CAEPIPE through Misc > Fatigue Curves or Misc > Fatigue Curves > Files > Read Fatigue Curve data.
3.      Assign the S-N Curve data to the respective Materials through Misc > Materials > Fatigue Curve.
4.      Input the actual number of Thermal Cycles corresponding to each Expansion load case selected for Detailed Fatigue Evaluation through Misc > Fatigue Cycles.
5.      Once done, turn ON (tick) or OFF (un-tick) the Detailed Fatigue Evaluation through Loads > Detailed Fatigue.
Note:
Detailed Fatigue Evaluation option will be grayed out (disabled) from the Loads menu for any one of the following reasons.
1.      Piping Code selected for analysis is equal to EN 13941/ASME NM.1/ASME NM.2/ ISO 14692/DNV-ST-F101/BS 806(1906)/NONE.
2.      No Expansion load case is turned ON for this Detailed Fatigue Evaluation.
3.      None of the selected Expansion load cases includes a non-zero input for the actual number of thermal cycles.
4.      None of the Materials is referring to the defined S-N Curve data.
