Stiffness

When CAEPIPE requires the Stiffness to be input, user can input the actual stiffness values for translational stiffness and rotational stiffness in the fields provided. Alternatively, user can also enter either “R” or “Rigid” in the field. When “R” or “Rigid” is input, then CAEPIPE will assign internally, the rigid stiffness value as 1×1012 (lb/inch) for translational stiffness and 1×1012 (inch-lb/radian) for rotational stiffness.

When CAEPIPE requires the Weight to be input, user should input the Weight in lbf or kgf and NOT in mass units. Whenever a mass is required for a calculation as in the case of forming Mass matrix for dynamic analysis, or in calculating inertia force as (mass x acceleration) for static seismic analysis, CAEPIPE internally computes the mass to be equal to (weight / g-value).
